In the evening of Tuesday, 6th of September, the Silent Snow documentary will be shown in the Tuschinsky Theater in Amsterdam. On this special day, called Sustainable Tuesday, a briefcase full of ideas for a sustainable world is presented to Mr. Bleker, a government official. So why go to this premiere in the Netherlands?
Silent Snow shows how persistent -silent- pollutants cause global environmental problems, even and especially in Arctic Plains, seemingly untouched nature. Chemical residues from all over the world accumulate here invisibly, poisoning both humans and animals. By ocean currents and attached to snow, pesticides like DDT, are carried northbound into Inuit land, causing illness and premature death.
The Dutch filmmaker Jan van den Berg, made a powerful movie about the severities of structural pollution of the entire global environmental system. Watch the trailer here. Following a young Inuit women searching for answers, this documentary powerfully explains how our home, our planet, is in danger. A steady but invisible destruction of the Artic created by developments elsewhere in the world is the essential drama.
Sustainable Susan is very excited to see this movie next Tuesday. The film is shown in festivals and broadcasted around the world and has won many prizes. Looking for an invitation to go there as well? Write a comment or send an email and I’ll try to make it happen.
